ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Valery was born in 1979. She was raised in a small town in Nevada, that is not far from Las Vegas. Her father introduced her to science at a very early age and she immediately fell in love with his snakes as soon as she could walk. Even at two years old she would share her favorite snakes with anyone she could find. She also developed an interest in sports, reading, writing, astronomy, music, and art, as well as all things involving science. Her childhood was spent rampaging across the desert with her four brothers, playing all sorts of imaginative games, especially ones involving aliens and Star Wars, and swimming as much as possible.

Her first novel was written in eighth grade, which, sadly, has disappeared into the void of space, never to surface again. But she continued to dabble in writing for years before taking the plunge.
She received a Bachelor of Sciences Degree from Southern Utah University, where she high-jumped for the track team and met the love of her life while singing in choir.

Valery can often be found backpacking, hiking, reading, doing archery, throwing knives (as a hobby), or hanging out with her rambunctious kids with a camera in hand. She also volunteers a lot of her time at her kids school.

Currently, she lives in Idaho with her husband of sixteen years, their three children, and their pet, a Yorkie named Zed. She loves the mountains and the trees, and she finds being close to them a wonderful way to spend her life, but there are days when she truly misses the desert.
